Counseling
I became a therapist because I believe people are capable of profound change, even when life feels messy, painful, or stuck. Over the years, I’ve learned that healing rarely comes from being told what to do. It comes from being deeply understood. From having a space where you can say the things you’ve never said out loud. From exploring the patterns that made sense at one time in your life but may no longer be serving you.
I often work with clients navigating:
-
Eating disorders and disordered eating
-
Body image concerns and divestment from diet culture
-
High pressure professional roles, including executives, legal professionals, and airline employees
-
Anxiety and depression
-
Trauma and attachment wounds (including deep relational work)
-
Questions about identity, meaning, and direction
My Approach to Therapy
Therapy with me is collaborative. You are the expert on your life; my role is to bring clinical knowledge, perspective, and a steady, warm presence to the process. My goal is to create that kind of space: thoughtful, collaborative, and grounded, with respect for your lived experience. In our work together, you won’t find judgment or pressure to “fix” yourself. Instead, we’ll slow down, get curious about what’s going on beneath the surface, and work toward meaningful change in a way that honors who you are and your therapeutic goals.
I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches depending on what will be most helpful, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and social justice, trauma-informed frameworks. I also integrate tools from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance & Committment Therapy (ACT) when practical skills would be helpful.
The Values That Guide My Work
Ethics are not just professional guidelines for me—they’re part of how I try to show up as a therapist and as a person. I believe therapy should be a place where people feel safe, respected, and genuinely welcomed. I work to create an environment where differences in culture, race, gender identity, sexuality, spirituality, body size, ability, and life experience are honored rather than minimized.
My work is strongly informed by Health at Every Size® and Body Trust® principles, which means I utilize a social justice approach to health, body image, and relationship to food. I fiercely believe in weight inclusivity, anti-racism work, LGBTQIA+ affirming practices, neurodiversity, accessibility, and dignity for all humans. I’m also committed to ongoing learning (and un-learning!) as well as the continuing uncovering and understanding of my own privilege and biases.
Education & Training
I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Fox University and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon. (I also hold counseling licensure in 36+ additional states. See deails below.)
I am a Certified Body Trust® Specialist through The Center for Body Trust and have completed Level 1 training in Internal Family Systems (IFS).
